If you sometimes long to spend time somewhere really special then read on...
It is rare in the modern world to come across a place with such a wonderful atmosphere that time stands still and the pressures of life just fade away but this extraordinarily romantic and beautiful private sanctuary for two is such a place.
Flower filled rooms, the table laid for a cream tea, freshly baked scones, home made jams, a huge bed made up with luxurious linen; dressing gowns, fluffy towels, bags of hot water, scented toiletries, candles, a woodburner ready to light and a really well equipped kitchen.
Reached by a path through the beautiful garden with staggering views and in summer surrounded by its own wildflower meadow, the cottage is detached, has total privacy and is completely self contained with full central heating and a woodburning stove. There is private parking for one car by the main house.
We will greet you and take you through the garden to the cottage and are on hand should you need.
For the ultimate relaxing start we offer a welcome supper and a first morning breakfast. See our Welcome Supper page.
The charming sunny living room with its pale painted floors and walls and pretty vintage furniture, lamps and mirrors and wonderful views makes a very comfortable place for relaxing, either on the large sofa, or at the table in the bay window which is flooded with light and makes a lovely place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and plan the day, using the plentiful maps, guides and books provided.
In the pretty bedroom there is a superking size bed, which for additional comfort has two individual mattresses zipped together to form one large mattress on a sprung base. The bed is made up for you with exquisite linen; matching French “shabby chic” furniture and a dressing table with a triple mirror with lighting above, and a hairdryer with adjacent electrical sockets
The en-suite bathroom has a full length bath with powerful shower and complimentary toiletries . Towels, dressing gowns, slippers and hairdryer are provided.
The kitchen is completely equipped with all the cooking utensils and china that even a very keen cook would be likely to use, from a set of razor sharp knives to down to a champagne stopper and crab picks. It has a cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, washing machine and tumble drier.
You will also find a jug of fresh milk, butter in a china dish, clotted cream to have with your home-made scones, jars of fresh filter and espresso coffee, English breakfast and Earl Grey tea, extra virgin olive oil and cooking oil, wine vinegar, sea salt and pepper grinders, china jam pots containing home made jams and marmalade....the list is extensive.
The veranda, or stoop, which runs along the whole of the south side overlooks a stunning view and makes a wonderful covered place from which to enjoy a lazy breakfast or a pre-dinner drink. We leave large rugs for those who like to snuggle up warmly whilst sitting out late on the bench to watch the starry skies or the spectacular sunsets which occur very frequently.
